Summary
CleanMD is designed so that Markdown cleaning, preview, and export run in your browser on your device. We do not receive your document content for conversion on our servers as part of that core workflow. If you choose to allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 may process limited technical and usage data as described below.
Who is responsible
The operator of this website and service (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal data collected through the site, except where a third party (such as Google) acts as a separate controller for its own services.
Information processed in your browser
When you use the converter, your Markdown and generated outputs are processed locally in your browser unless you explicitly use features that send data elsewhere. Opening a Markdown file from your device reads that file in the browser; it is not described here as an upload to us for conversion.
Standard browser storage (for example local storage) may be used to remember editor state or preferences on your device. That data stays on your device unless you clear it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use browser storage to remember your cookie choice (whether optional analytics is allowed). If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may set cookies or use similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device information, and how you use the site.
When this deployment offers optional analytics, you can change your choice using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. If that link is not shown, optional analytics is not enabled here; you can still clear site data in your browser to remove stored preferences.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
If you click Accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and product usage. Google’s privacy information is available at Google Privacy Policy. Analytics is optional; if you choose Reject analytics, we do not load Google Analytics on your device based on that choice.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar)
Where applicable law requires a legal basis: we rely on consent for optional analytics cookies and related processing, and on legitimate interests or consent (as appropriate) for remembering your cookie preference in browser storage and for operating the site securely.
Retention
Cookie preference data is kept on your device until you change it or clear site data. Analytics data held by Google is retained according to Google’s settings and policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
U.S. state privacy laws
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, you may have additional rights regarding personal information. Use the contact method below to submit a request. We do not sell personal information for money; analytics may involve sharing data with Google as described in this policy when you opt in.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where applicable law defines “child” at a higher age for consent, that law applies.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy, except where your consent is required for new processing.
