Quick answers about CleanMD and how it works.

Looking for the converter? Go to the homepage.

What is CleanMD?

CleanMD is a browser-based Markdown to rich text converter. You edit with live preview, validate your Markdown, and export to DOCX, RTF, or HTML. The conversion workflow is built to run on your device in the browser.

Is my Markdown sent to your servers when I convert it?

The core conversion workflow—editing, preview, validation, and export—runs in your browser on your device. We do not receive your document content for conversion on our servers as part of that workflow. Optional analytics may collect limited usage data if you allow it; see our Privacy policy for details.

What export formats does CleanMD support?

You can export to Microsoft Word (DOCX), Rich Text Format (RTF), and HTML from the converter.

Is CleanMD free to use?

Yes. You can use the converter features offered on this site without payment.

Can I use CleanMD without an internet connection?

You need a network connection to load the site and its assets. After that, much of the work happens locally in your browser. Whether you can use the tool fully offline depends on your browser, cache, and how the site is deployed.

Which web browsers work with CleanMD?

Use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Older browsers may not support everything the app needs.

What does validation and preview do?

Validation helps surface issues in your Markdown before you export. The preview updates in sync with the editor so you can see how your content renders as you type.

Can I use CleanMD for AI-generated Markdown?

Yes. Many people use CleanMD to clean and validate Markdown produced by AI tools or other sources before exporting or publishing.

What Markdown syntax is supported?

CleanMD supports common Markdown constructs such as headings, lists, links, emphasis, and code blocks. Different tools interpret edge cases differently; use the preview to confirm output before you export.

How do I open a Markdown file from my computer?

Use the file or load control in the converter to choose a .md file. The file is read in your browser on your device.

Do I have to accept cookies or analytics to use the converter?

No. Optional Google Analytics loads only if you accept analytics when your deployment shows the cookie banner. You can reject analytics and still use the converter. You can change your choice later from Cookie settings in the footer when that link is available.

How do I report a bug or get help?

Check the site footer for Report a bug (when an issue tracker URL is configured) and Contact (when an email is configured). For privacy-related questions, see the Privacy policy.

Is there a desktop or mobile app?

CleanMD is a website that runs in your browser. There is no separate desktop installer from this site. You can use it on desktop or mobile browsers that meet the requirements above.
